I am looking for information on a civilian family with the name of Ferris or Kirkham who were at the siege of Kimberley in 1900. How can I find names of people who died during that siege

Hi Bern

Could be this family ?

Harry Ferris married Anne Matilda Mary Kirkham in Kimberley on 27 August 1894 at St Alban's Anglican Church.

There were several deaths in Kimberley in 1896 surname Ferris and Kirkham, I cannot see either surname fmentioned for 1900,1901 or 1902.

There are again more in 1903 and 1906 etc

Hannah Helps, born Ferris in England, Died 1899
Harry Darnell Ferris, Died 1896
John Alexander Ferris, Died 1896 (son in law was William Reid)
William Kirkham, Died 1896
Georgina Kirkham, Died 1903

These are extracts from RootsWeb search Kimberley Ferris or Kimberley Kirkham.

Infant mortality was very high during the siege finally reaching 50%, a total of 1679 infant deaths recorded for the 124 day siege.
I am not aware whether these deaths were accurately recorded, or have survived.
The Kimberley Siege slips may mention some civilian names ?

Regards
Adrian

I concur with Adrian - I can find no trace of civilian deaths in Kimberley with those surnames over the period of the siege i.e. 1899/1900

I am looking for a record of 2 uncles who died as children in the seige of Kimberly. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Children were Ronald and Stanley Macfarlane or McFarlane or MacFarlane. Sons of Malcolm and Florence Evelyn (nee Storrier) Macfarlane. Thankyou.
