Hi All,

I'm finally getting around to doing some research on 6283 William Francis Cragg, who was captured, along with Churchill on the 15th Nov 1899. I know that William was released on the 21st July 1900 but what I don't know is where he was imprisioned during his time as a POW.

I'm also not clear on why he was released. Was it due to liberation or some sort of agreement?

Any information you can send my way that would help me understand/learn more about his time as a POW would be greatly appreciated. Any recommended books etc would also be great.

Cheers
Grant

Quote:- A lanky, unshaven police sergeant gasped my arm.
" You are not an officer " he said " you go this way with the common soldiers "

Churchill fell in with the other soldiers to the delight of the Boers but was then returned to the officers group. According to Churchill, the officers were marched off to the State Model Schools prison and the common soldiers were sent to the enclosed camp at the racecourse in Pretoria.

With reference to your books request.
What subjects are looking out for? Just the train incident and Dublins? or others?
