rfdboer, how certain are you of this statement:
"I know that William was released on the 21st July 1900"
Many British POWs were moved in March 1900 to the camp at Waterval, just north of Pretoria. I would have expected Cragg to have been at Waterval.
Pretoria town was occupied by the British on 5 June 1900.
On 6 June, 3,187 POWs (NCOs and men) were released at Waterval.
I have no idea what happened on 21 July 1900, but by then the British had penetrated about 100 km west of Pretoria.
On 21 August 1900 began the 6day battle of Dalmanutha (Bergendal, Belfast), which was 200 km west of Pretoria.
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

Hi Dave,

I suppose I'm a bit of a book collector as well, so any literature, unit histories etc for any of the Irish units are of interest.

I couldn't figure out how to attach a picture here, which I took of my library, mainly WW1 related at this point, which was my interest for many years.

Cheers

Hi Rob,

To be honest, I'm not 100% confident. I need to corroborate the dates (which are based on information I was given at time of purchase, apparently taken from a Times article published around the time.

Cheers
