The drawing that was published in The Graphic depicting Plumer's attempt at relieving Mafeking which I have attached. Can anybody please tell me is the force in the foreground Plumer's or the Boers. Thank you.

The men in the foreground (with the Maxim) are Plumer's men.

Thank you so much for your reply. I was leaning to that thought as I read somewhere that the only bit of partial cover was the railway embankment. The withdrawal in good order seems to have been a credit to Plumer and his disciplined force. Thanks again.

I have long had an interest in the operations for the Mafeking Relief and Plumer and his men had a rough time and did extremely well, considering. Might I suggest your trying to access Vol.1 of "Rhodesia Served The Queen"; which covers the relief very well. That is, of course, unless you have already done so.
