The latest to the collection, but sadly missing it's KSA companion... Please contact me if you know its location.

QSA with CC, OFS and Trans clasps officially named to: 182 Pte. H. Ferns, Royal Irish Rifles

Pte. Ferns was born in St. Peters, Drogheda and enlisted at 19 years old on 3.5.1883. He was a carpenter and joined the militia reserve in 1887. He was mobilized on 6.12.1899 and captured at Reddersburg on 3/4/ April 1900 and later released. He was discharged when time expired on 2.5. 1902. He was entitled to a KSA with both 1901 and 1902 clasps.

Photos of medal forthcoming.

Here are photos of the obverse and reverse of Ferns' QSA. Note the faint "ghost dates" on the reverse.

I hadn't read that article. Thanks for showing me. I've got three with ghost dates and never thought about their rarity. I'm pleased to have them as I'll never get one to a Canadian who received one that is dated.
