Hello
A person by the name of Oscar Binstead Lowne Hughes of the Zeerust district was sent to St Helena after being captured at Elandsputen on 11.9.1900. He was aged 27 years at the time and given a number of 1528 according the record at Boer War Museum South Africa,
If anyone has any other information regarding him or anything about the internment at St Helena how long they stayed there etc, then I would appreciate hearing about it. Thank you KM

60plus,

I don't know the answer to your question but have been looking through newspaper report for information. There were 5,679 men in St Helena at the time.

I cannot see a date in the papers when the final batch of prisoners left the island. I don't know of any lists of which men made up the batches of men.

Two more articles of interest.
