It's been a while since anyone featured a medal here so I thought I'd share a fairly recent acquisition.

Andrew (Andries) Masberg (Marsberg) was born in the Eastern Cape before trying his luck in the new Rhodesia. He was caught up in the rebellions of the 1890's, fighting for the Matabeleland Relief Force in 1896 and then the Mount Darwin Volunteers and Salisbury Field Force, earning his Mashonaland 1897 clasp.

Sadly he didn't live to see the turn of the century (and the Boer War), passing away on Jelliman's Rest farm in Rhodesia on 2 May 1899. He left his rifle and a few personal effects.
