Very chuffed to have added this one to the collection today. Trooper August Anderson was a 25 year old prospector (not sure where he came from yet) who served with the Salisbury Horse in 1893 during the troubles in Matabeleland and then with Gifford's Horse in the same area in 1896 when the rebellion flared up again.

He was Wounded in Action (shot in the thigh) on 29 March 1896 when out with Gifford on the Shiloh Patrol. Never fully recovering, he Died from Wounds on 6 June 1896 and is buried in Bulawayo.

Anyone help in identifying his origins would be appreciated.
