Wolverhampton is the eastern extremity of the Black Country - several of the Black Country towns have war memorials.

Philip - have checked out 7 Union St on 1891, 1901 & 1911 Censuses but Lees family not in residence on any occasion.

But I think this could well be him on the 1891 Census:

If it is this is a transcript of his baptism:

Name Edwardus Lees
Gender Male
Baptism Date 12 Mar 1882
Baptism Place Wolverhampton, Stafford, England
Father Roberti Lees
Mother Annae Mcshea Lees

Obviously a Roman Catholic baptism which fits with him having an Irish grandmother.

Is that why he is not commemorated in a C of E Church?!?!

Why did I look up 7 Union St because of this:

Also found this:

Have now checked 32 Union St on 1901 & 1911 Censuses but no luck. Can't find it listed in 1891.

Regards, David.
