Described as: A 19th Century Zulu Knobkerrie, 81cm, with circular head profusely covered in metal tacks, the haft shows two groups of ring staining as part of the decoration, the base of the haft further decorated with a row of flat tacks and two rows of pointed tacks

Provenance: Pat Rundgren Collection, South Africa to December 2003. Acquired near Elandskraal, Zululand. Ian Wilkinson Collection, December 2003-November 2008. Purchased November 2008.

Described as: A 19th Century Zulu Knobkerrie, 64.5cm, onion head and with haft that tapers down, fitted with brass plaque affixed with two screws the plaque impressed 'James Arthur Hills South Africa 1882'

Provenance: David Smith Collection, Wallis & Wallis, Lot 91.

Spink say this is possibly an object collected from the battlefields and sold to 'tourists' in the period after the Anglo-Zulu War of 1877-79, or a presentation item.
