I have very fond memories of Carlisle Castle, but, I have not been there for many years now, I dare say the city will have changed dramatically over the years since, it used to be so beautiful.

I wouldn't say it's changed dramatically, probably because the council is aware of the value of tourism, but everywhere changes. When I visited the castle on Monday morning, the Poppies Remembrance installation, which has been touring the UK, was on display.

Sadly, everything does change, the centre of Carlisle used to be crossed by very narrow lanes, that dated back hundreds of years, the area subsequently occupied by the sort of shopping centre that you find almost anywhere in England.
Still, never mind, at least the Castle and the museum are there.
