The Ladysmith Siege Museum is located in the heart of the city in what was the old Trading Post. The original iron columns are still a feature of the building.

There are some wonderful exhibits in the museum that provide an excellent portrayal of the events and personalities leading up to the siege and then the siege itself.

A 3D map showing how the town was surrounded.

The breech block from the Long Tom which shelled Ladysmith from Gun Hill. It was put out of action during the raid on 7/8 December 1899. Makor Karri Davies, ILH, brought back the trophey which was displayed at regimental functions before being presented to Federal Jan Smuts.

The breech block, ram rod and sight on show during the siege outside General Hunter’s tent.
