In the Boer War the natives didn't get medals.

In 1906, there were medals to natives, I have seen them to the police, to some troops and stretcher bearers.

But I am sure that there were a lot more natives involved that we see medals.

Does anyone have evidence of natives NOT getting a medal? I'm about to search to see if I can find original rolls on ancestry or TNA to see if there are comments on there.

What I have determined is that the rolls are missing. The paper copies cannot be found. There was apparently a microfiche copy in the Transvaal Museum (as it was called then) but the museum does not focus on anything it considers colonial, and they don't know where it is.

The intention was to try to determine if there were any natives listed but did not get the medal, but this can't be done now unfortunately.

In my opinion many of the medals to natives did not reach the intended recipients. The ones in my collection are all in perfect condition and as such were probably not issued. They did, however, later make it onto the collector's market.
