Yes, St Anns Square in the city, the Manchester's Anglo Boer War monument, which as you will know was unveiled by Ian Hamilton himself, sorry for late reply, its been a very busy few days here.

Here it is David, I don't supose you know who the girl is on the right, do you? I snapped this ages ago for our man in Natal, I had to say sorry to Brett as I really could not ask this classically trained girl to move, or "shift" as we say up here!
I told him I'd take another some time, as I walk past every week.
When I went back, she had gone!
I thought I might ask her over to sing to my dinner guests at a party I was hosting later the same month!
But she was nowhere to be seen.

My grandad Major H.W.D.Denne was killed at Elandslaagte on the 21 Oct 1899
My dad Major V.A.H.D. Denne was born on the 09 Dec 1899.
I found grandad's head stone on line with help from guys on here
I hope to travel south April / May this year. Advice needed please....
