ABO (Burger R C B Emmett)

City Coins Aug 2015. Est R2,000-2,800. Hammer R4,620 £220.

Robert Cheere Boyes Emmett served under Genl. Joseph James Cheere (nicknamed “Cherry”) Emmett (of Irish extraction), who must have been a family member and who also filled in Vorm “B” and signed it on behalf of Robert.

He was in the field for the duration of the war, but the only battles specifically listed in his medal application were Talana, Modderspruit (Nicholson's Nek, 30 October 1899), Platrand (Wagon Hill, 6 January 1900) and Colenso.
