Pieter Esterhuysen was called up for service with the Ermelo Commando on 29 Sept 1899 and laid down arms on 2 June 1902. He was present at numerous major actions, including Ladysmith, Colenso (15 Dec 1899), Donkerhoek (Diamond Hill: 11/12 June 1900) and Bakenlaagte (Benson: 30 Oct 1901).

Pieter Willem Esterhuysen served in the Ermelo Kommando from 29 Sept 1899 to 2 June 1902 in the Transvaal, OFS and Natal. He lists participation in the Battle of Ladysmith 30 Oct 99. Colenso at Bosrand Tugela till breakthrough by English 15 Dec 99. Two actions between Brandfort and Bloemfontein. This very active Burger lists more actions, ending with 'many more minor actions’.
