Copy of Vorm B shows that Paul Schoeler was deceased and the medal was applied for by his son. Lid 459 Vereeniging Het Roode Kruis van Geneve (Oranje Vrystaat Afdeling Ambulans Komissie 17 Mei 1897/12 Maart 1900)

Dates for October 1899 “Vertrek na Natal. Abrahams Kroon na die slag van Biddils Berg 29 Mei 1900 is die NV Ambulans afgedank en Vervoer na Winburg.”

Names of the officers: Dr C Schnaehoge and Hoofd N. OFS Ambulans (oorlede); Dr G van der Walt, Hermanus (oorlede), Spioenkop, Ladysmith.

There is a handwritten letter from Mr Shoeler’s son which gives explanation as to his father’s service.

Medal was applied for in 1942 thus it has the type 2 suspender.
