Medal issued 16 May 1946. Type 2 suspender type 2 naming.

City Coins auction, 4 November 2022

Stephanus Lukas Smit served in the Vryheid Kommando from 10 October 1899 to 13 June 1902. He took part in in battles at Spioenkop, Ladysmith, Slag van Belmenitta, the successful capture of a British naval gun nicknamed Lady Roberts, after the attack on the Helvetia garrison in December 1900 (Gen Ben Viljoen in command).
