ABO (Burger N.J.C. Smith). City Coins June 2004.

Nicolaas Johannes Christoffel Smith served for the duration of the Boer War in the Heidelberg Commando (Ward Roodekoppen) under Commandants Greyling and Buys.

He saw action at Colenso and further along the Tugela as well as at Dalmanutha (Berg en Dal).

He died in 1911 (Estate Tvl 19150) and his son applied for his ABO medal in 1923.
