Copies of his application paper shows that Herman Philipus [sic] Van Aswegen lived at Greyling Straat, Potchefstroom.

He fought with the Potchefstroom Kommando. He fought from October 1899 until he was taken P.O.W. and sent to St Helena. He fought at Mafeking; Magersfontein and Paardeberg
