ABO (Burger J.J.S. van Biljon). Officially reimpressed. City Coins August 2014.

Jacobus van Biljon served in the Vredefort Commando and claimed action at important engagements such as Spioenkop and Sannaspost.
He was captured on 17 March 1902 at Palmietfontein and sent to India on 2 May 1902.

There was a mix-up with his initials when he applied for the ABO, partly because the “S” in his signature was confused with a “P” and the person who completed the Vorm “B” on his behalf heard his 3rd name incorrectly. The medal was eventually returned to the authorities where it was skimmed and re-impressed.
