There is virtually no service information on the Vorm “B” submitted by Michael van Coller and the Forsyth roll gives his unit as O.V.S Kommando.

However, he named W. Matthee as his C/O. In a 1942 Afrikaans publication “Die Helde Album” mention is made of a so-called “ Vlieende Kommando” i.e. Flying Commando under Comdt Erasmus with W. Matthee as one of his six Field-Cornets.

This Commando consisted of the best riders and horses and inflicted heavy losses on the British in the Free State.
