Presuming this is the same man.

ABO (Laager Komdt. B.J. van den Berg). City Coins August 2010

According to his Vorm “B”, Barend van den Berg joined the Kroonstad Commando as a Burger in May 1900: it is more than probable that he was still too young to be commandeered when the war broke out.

He laid down arms at Boschrand near Kroonstad on 10 June 1902: at the time he acted as Laager Kommandant (Commissariat Officer).
