Christoffel van Vuuren served in the Heidelberg Commando for the full duration of the war, taking part in the battles of Spion Kop, Donkerhoek (Diamond Hill) and Dalmanutha. He was also in action at Brandfort (OFS) with Roberts’ advance to Pretoria.
