ABO (Burger J J Vermeulen), BidorBuy February 2018.

Jacob Johannes Vermeulen served as a 12 year old boy-soldier with his father in the Griquastad Commando. He was present at the Fabers Put skirmish on 30 May 1900 where Colonel Spence of the DEOVR was killed.

There were many boys who were in the field against the British, mainly because the father was fighting and the mother was in a concentration camp. The youngest one to be sent overseas as PoW was 7 years old (J P van Heerden, PoW Number 29727)
