ABO (Burger R.E. Wentworth). City Coins August 2010

Richard Edward Wentworth served in the Pretoria Commando, was taken PoW (No. 11457) in Pretoria on 10 August 1900 and sent to Ceylon. His Vorm “B” could not be traced.

However, there are documents in the Transvaal Archives, dated Feb 1896, referring to the naturalization of R E Wentworth. It could be that he became a ZAR Citizen after the Jameson Raid. Other documents refer to him as a Detective in the Pretoria Police.

He died in the Transvaal in 1933 (Estate No 83460).

Wentworth most probably was a British subject up to 1896.
