This CDV picture is being advertised as a 'Woman dressed in Imperial Yeomanry uniform'.

I think women being photographed in their sweethearts' uniforms became a bit of a fad.
Some photographers also had uniforms that sitters could dress up in.

The likeness of the subjects in the first two portraits might indicate that they are brother and sister.

And here we can perhaps revisit the enigmatic Mrs Berrett / Mrs Barrett / Mrs Wagner. From what I have read I consider it likely she just dressed up for van Hoepen's studio picture - and most unlikely she served in the front line at Spioenkop or elsewhere.

Durban photographer Middlebrook, appears to have believed the commando story, as he went to the trouble of finding Mrs Berrett to take the garden shot.
I can find no obvious evidence that this photograph was recycled by Middlebrook (unlike the second image, which retains van Hoepen's copyright).
