Morning all.
I've just acquired the India General Service Medal 1897-8 to a King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Sergeant who went on to serve in the Boer War
His service papers indicate that he was discharged in South Africa at the end of his service. They also show that his wife had accompanied him to India
whilst he was serving there.
My question is - does anyone know if that practice was carried over into the Boer War and that she would have been with the Regiment then going on, it
seems to remain in South Africa after the war.
