Henk Loots' ABO article refers ro 19 woman receiving the ABO medal - but all nurses.

So Mrs Berrett - see article - must not have claimed hers.

I think that Paul Kruger often got a rather bad press, I suspect and indeed hope that he did not and indeed would not have encouraged any woman to bare arms.

No, indeed. I imagine these women were very tough and resilient to have lived the life they did. It would not have been much of a gentleman's war had Kruger acquiesced to these requests.

Hello David,
Well you can call me old fashioned and behind the times, but I really don't feel that the battlefield is a good place for anyone, in particular, women, though, it has been suggested that they make better warriors. :(
