WARRNAMBOOL. –

An enthusiastic welcome home was tendered to Major DALLIMORE at Tooram House, near Allansford, on Friday evening. There was a representative assemblage of residents of Warrnambool and district. Mr Bradhurst, in proposing the health of the guest, referred to the gallantry displayed by Major DALLIMORE in the several actions in which he had been engaged, and said the district had every reason to be proud of the officer who had won such distinction on the battlefield. He went out as a lieutenant, was promoted to captain, and eventually won the rank of major. The toast was honoured with rounds of cheers. A gold medal was presented to Major DALLIMORE by the Rev. F.J. Betts on behalf of the people of Allansford and district in recognition of the bravery displayed by him in South Africa. Major DALLIMORE, in replying, mentioned that he intended returning at an early date to South Africa, and spoke in terms of praise of the Australians who had served under him, and also of the splendid services of the regular troops. Mr Dallimore has another son, Lieutenant Peter DALLIMORE, still at the front.
