RETURNED SOLDIERS.

BIRREGURRA. — An enthusiastic welcome was accorded to Lance-Corporal LEDGERWOOD, D.S.O. He was met at the station by a large crowd, and was escorted by a torchlight procession, headed by Piper McLennan, to the local hall, where a patriotic concert, presided over by Mr Forrest, M.L.A., took place. On behalf of the district residents, Mr Forrest presented the young soldier with a gold medal. A number of returned soldiers took part in the proceedings, and a Crimean veteran, Mr G. Taylor, was also present.

BIRREGURRA. – An enthusiastic welcome was accorded Lance-Corporal LEDGERWOOD on his return home on Monday night. He was met at the station by a large crowd, and escorted by a torchlight procession, headed by Piper Donald McLennan, to the local hall. A patriotic concert took place, presided over by Mr Forrest, M.L.A.  Addresses of congratulation were given by leading citizens. On behalf of the district, Mr Forrest presented the young soldier with a gold medal, suitably inscribed. A number of returned soldiers took part in the proceedings, and an old Crimean veteran, Mr G. Taylor, who fought at Alma and Inkerman, was also present. The crowd was the largest ever seen in Birregurra.
