BROOKE.

A good number of parishioners met at the King’s Head to welcome home Private Charles TOLVER, of I Company, 4th V.B. Norfolk Regiment. Lieutenant Fowler presided, and was supported by Lieutenant Gillett, the Rev. S. Bunbury (vicar), the Rev. G. Marsh, and several men of I Company. The Chairman proposed “The Health of Private TOLVER”, and congratulated him on his safe return. The Vicar, on behalf of some of the parishioners, presented TOLVER with a purse of money, and subsequently the Chairman, on behalf of the officers and men of the company, gave him a framed congratulatory address and a silver chain and medal. In addition to the guest of the evening there were four in the room who had seen active service in South Africa, namely, Private WARD, Private E. TOLVER, Private J. MARSHALL, and Private G. RUDDOCK.
