DINNER AND PRESENTATION. – Private J. BARRETT, who has just returned from the seat of war, was on Tuesday entertained at dinner by Mr and Mrs J.P. Stephens of the Duke of Cumberland. About 40 sat down to the spread, and enjoyed the good things provided by the host and hostess. The company subsequently repaired to a larger room, where a convivial evening took place. Mr J.P. Stephens was voted to the chair, and Mr W. Aston filled the vice-chair. Mr Fred. Glover was the able accompanist. During the course of the evening a very pleasing event took place, Private BARRETT being presented with a silver chain and pendant. BARRETT’s health was drunk with enthusiasm, and he suitably acknowledged the gift.
