Mr GAY, a former resident of Beaudesert (writes our Beaudesert correspondent, under yesterday's date), who has been absent in the Transvaal with the Second Contingent for fifteen months, was given an enthusiastic welcome at a complimentary social held at the Assembly rooms on Friday evening, when the honoured guest was presented with a handsome gold medal, which had been subscribed for by his many admiring friends. With music, dancing, and choice refreshments, a very pleasant evening was spent.
