COLWELL.
The inhabitants of the Colwell district assembled on Wednesday night at Swinburne Castle to celebrate the return from South Africa of Sergt. Ralph COMPTON, of the Northumberland Fusiliers, and to present him with a gold albert and medal and a purse of gold. Dr Murray, of Swinburne Castle, made the presentation. Sergt. COMPTON feelingly replied.

....... enough money was soon collected to purchase a gold albert and a gold medal, the money having been most willingly contributed by the inhabitants of the immediate district. The medal bore on one side the crest of the Northumberland Fusiliers, and on the other side a suitable inscription.
