KYNETON.
Trooper S.P. HARPER, who recently returned from South Africa, was entertained at a social on Thursday evening by the Kyneton Fire Brigade, of which his father and brother were old members, and his uncle (Mr H. Harper, shire secretary), is captain. Mr Argyle, M.L.A., made the guest the recipient of a costly gold locket, inscribed as follows: — "Presented to Trooper S.P. Harper from the Kyneton Fire Brigade as a welcome home from the South African war. 30/5/01".
