MOSSBURN.

A correspondent writes: An enjoyable evening was spent at McCaughan’s Hotel here on Monday, when fully forty residents of the surrounding districts met to do honour to Trooper McGRATH of the Fifth Contingent. After everyone had enjoyed the repast provided by Host McCaughan, Mr Dyer, the chairman, presented Trooper McGRATH with a gold albert and pendant, suitably inscribed, from the residents, and welcomed him back to the district. Mr McGRATH returned thanks for the kindness everyone had shown him, and for the splendid memento he had received that evening. The usual toasts were proposed and responded to and many excellent songs were sung.
