MOUNT PLEASANT, June 11.

A complimentary social and musical entertainment was tendered to Trooper Leo BARNES, of the Third Contingent, on Tuesday evening, on his return from the war. The hall was lighted with gas for the first time, as an experiment, and was tastefully decorated with flags and art muslin. The toast of “The Guest” was proposed by the Chairman, Mr Giles, who, on behalf of the residents, presented Trooper BARNES with a gold locket. Messrs Cooling, Phillis, Thompson, Ham, and Whithers spoke. Songs, recitations, and speeches filled up a pleasant evening.
