Corporal Joseph RICHARDS, of Canning Street, North Carlton, son of Mr J. Richards, manager Cecil Rhodes Gold Mining Company, Kyneton, who has left with the Fifth Contingent for South Africa, was presented with a gold ring, with a ruby setting, by Patterson, Shugg and Co., engravers, Elizabeth Street, and their employees, as a token of their esteem and good wishes; also a gold locket from the Northern District Cycling Club, suitably engraved. These were feelingly acknowledged by the recipient at meetings held prior to his departure.
