THE INVALIDED SOLDIERS.
It has been decided to tender a public welcome to Privates MICHEL and HULL, of Preston, members of the First Australian Contingent, who have, on account of wounds and enteric lever, been invalided home. The gathering will take place in the shire hall on Friday evening. The returned soldiers will be presented with suitable souvenirs in the shape of gold medals.

PRESTON, Sunday.
A public meeting was held at the shire hall on Friday evening to welcome the return of Privates HULL and MICHEL who went with the first contingent in October last. The chair was occupied by Lieut.-Colonel Braithwaite, who presented each of the returned soldiers with a gold chain and medal. A smoke night will also be tendered to the men on Friday evening next, under the patronage of the shire council, rifle club and friendly societies.

PRESTON.
On Tuesday evening, 18th inst., Sergeant PROWSE, Lance-Corporal PROWSE, Lance-Corporal TAYLOR and Private HENDRIC [sic], who have just returned from the war, are to be entertained at a public concert in the shire hall, Preston, and presented with a gold albert and medal. A similar compliment was paid Privates MICHEL and HULL in July last.
