STAWELL.

The Stawell Rifle Club entertained Private J. ALLINGHAM, of the First western Australian Contingent, at a smoke night in the mechanics institute, which was largely attended. Private ALLINGHAM is a native of Stawell, and prior to going to South Africa had held the position of secretary to the Stawell Rifle Club for some years. Private J. DAVIS, of the Second Victorian Contingent, who returned by the Steamer Harlech Castle, and who has resumed duty on the staff of the local State school, was on Friday at the break-up of the school, presented by Captain Waters with a magnificent gold locket, suitably inscribed, which had been subscribed for by the teachers and scholars.
