Father and son winners:
Captain Walter Congreve, Rifle Brigade, won the VC at Colenso. His son, Brigade Major Billy Congreve, received a posthumous award for gallantry on the Western Front in July 1916.
Lieutenant (later Field Marshal Earl) Roberts was awarded the VC during the Indian Mutiny. His son, Lieutenant Frederick Roberts, received a posthumous award in 1899.
