This corps was employed in the Warrenton-Vryburg-Kuruman district, and in the south-west of the Transvaal during the last sixteen months of the war.  Captain Cullinan was appointed on 8 January 1901 which the same date as the first enrollments eg No 3 Corporal Bradfield. Captain Cullinan resigned 1 June 1902, the last date on which anyone left the unit. Incidentally, Bradfield has the number 3 in the nominal roll and 4 on the medal roll, anomalies that exist between the two sources.

They saw much hard work and a lot of fighting. The corps suffered casualties on many occasions. They had the ill-fortune to be part of the column of Major Paris, and under Lord Methuen, when that General was defeated by Delarey on 7th March 1902 (see Cape Police).  The approximate losses were 4 killed and 4 wounded out of a strength of 64.

In Lord Kitchener's despatch of 23rd June 1902, they received two Mentions,—Lieutenant J Macbeth, Sergeant A J Marshall.
