Dordrecht is a town in the Eastern Cape.

On 23 Dec 1899 a British mounted patrol occupied the town but were driven out by the Boers early in Jan 1900.  On 19 Jan 1900, orders were given that it should be garrisoned by Brigadier General Brabant's colonials.  This happened on 17 Feb 1900.

The Town Guard was raised immediately afterwards.
