Henry Rogers served in South Africa from 7.3.00 - 11.10.01. According to his service papers he was with 4th Bn Somerset Light Infantry. He got QSA with Cape Colony clasp and KSA with 1901 and 1902 clasps. I've tried googling 4th Bn to find out what they were doing but can find nothing. Can anyone help and either advise me where to look or tell me anything about 4th Bn's time in South Africa?
Thanks

Hi

The unit information to the left, lists a brief summary of the Battalion angloboerwar.com/unit-information/imperi...erset-light-infantry

There is a James henry rogers listed as 800 CR Sergt on the medal roll for the 4th battalion.

Could this be him?

Thanks Doug
I wondered why I couldn't find his medal roll for QSA! I'd got the KSA roll.
Maybe it's too early in the day for me, but I can only see information on 2nd Bn and nothing on 4th Bn. on the link you sent me

No, not too early, just an outline of the main battalion, as you mention.

Your best bet is the actual museum, they are generally very good at getting you information, but in case you haven't found it, it is here www.armymuseums.org.uk/museums/000000013...-Military-Museum.htm

There is also good old Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/The-Somerset-Light-Infa...5-1959/dp/0861834917

Have fun!
