Coldstreamer Armored Train patrolled the rialways from De Aar to Naauwpoort during December 1901.

List of the names of all the armoured trains and where they were based.

Hello Peter,

I have the following little bit of info:

In Kimberley-- Two armoured trains working towards Mafeking

In Mafeking--One armoured train called "Mosquito"

In Bulawayo-- One armoured train called "Powerful"

In Natal-- One armoured train called "Hairy Mary"

Info found in the Hall Hand Book of the ABW.

Hairy Mary was covered with ropes after the incident on Nov 15 at Chieveley. She remained as such until June 1900.

With IMR, there were 20 armoured trains - including the original 5 mentioned.

I have the book " Railways in the South African War" published in Chatham by the Royal Engineers Institute in 1904.
It also has plenty of text on the armoured trains.
