Hi, any help on deciphering / translating the following text would be appreciated.

It's an extract from the Vorm B in Afrikaans on battles or actions that they participated in:

I can make out: Dundee, Elandslaagte, Platrand.

Would the rest mean "many more battles"? It's been a while since I last read Afrikaans.

Thanks.

Hi

Yes it says “vele andere gevegte”
Which means “ many other battles “

Hi Everyone,

Any help on deciphering this handwriting would be appreciated:

This is what I have so far:
Posted South Africa 29 March 1901
Awaiting Trial 26 June 1901
______ (committed?) of _____ (keeping or sleeping) on _____ on active service
Sentence 3 years, OC (Reduced to 2 years) and then commuted to 3 months
To duty, Pte, 14 October 1901

Any thoughts?

Hi Sturgy,

I reckon the mystery words are 'convicted, sleeping' and 'post.'

Cheers Steve

Sturgy.

I would agree with Steve and add that the text in the brackets says

Reduced to 2 years impr HL (imprisonment with hard labour); Commuted to 3 months field punishment No 1).

No 1 was a type of field punishment and a lower level of punishment than imprisonment so I am guessing those are the words.

This is from the Manual of Military Law 1907:
