Dear Forum

I am in need of some help regarding 2 members of the South African Light Horse.

I would be grateful for any information pertaining to  the following:-

Trooper 22874 G A Ohlsen S A L H , later Roystons Horse?

Trooper 870  C Ohlsen   S A L H , later Roystons Horse?

Were they brothers? Was 870 C Ohlsen entitled to a Natal 1906 medal? What were there first names?

Any information would be most welcomed.

Cheers

Dave.........
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave

Dave F,
Many thanks for posting your request for info on the Ohlsens, David's response has given me a potential lead on one of my SALH men.

David,
You mentioned above that you had access to attestation papers for the SALH upto the initial E.
I have a soldier "killed in action" that I would be extremely grateful for any documentation that you may be able to access.

451 Corporal J.E.Eustace: South African Light Horse.
Killed in action at Robinson's Drift on 19th January 1901.

There is an interesting background to the events on the day of his death, and I already have alot of information and images at hand. If any attestation is still extant it could really help me to complete his story.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Cheers Steve.

Steve,

I am going to have to disappoint you too. My last paper is for W Dye.

I will return to TNA soon so happy to look out these 2 boxes of SALH papers.

Best wishes

David,
Many thanks for the reply.
I hope that you may find something from TNA in the near future. There were another two SALH men killed in action at the same location on the same day which would tie in with Corporal Eustace's story. I will post their names here in the next day or so.
Cheers Steve

Hello Dave,

This might help you in some way. It is the only one of the two that I have.
