Doug,

I was looking for the engagement where Arthyr Baker was sounded. I found this in The Times from 12 Apr 1900 regarding SALH engagement at Elandslaagte:

From The Derby Mercury, Wednesday April 18, 1900 comes this news of one officer and two men of the SALH wounded on 14 Apr 1900 near Sunday's River:

According to the Natal FF Casualty Roll:

1094 Cpl F Snowden was severely wounded at Elandslaagte on 17 Apr 00
1583 Tpr X De Villiers DOW Ladysmith 20 Apr 00
1645 Tpr A Baker DOW Ladysmith 21 Apr 00
992 Tpr J Burns wounded Elandslaagte 17 Apr 00

It is not clear if these men are connected with the incident on the 14th.

Of course, A Baker could have been wounded much earlier, eg at Pieter's Hill.
