Have to agree with Mike.....Jack

No information for a Sergeant Major D A Ford , can I ask where you purchased the renamed QSA from?

Dave.....

OUCH!

Medal bought on eBay, long time seller. It has 6 clasps.
I did find a DA Ford asj?? SRYC ?? involved with the Yeomanry, he was recruiter and witness on the attestation form of Sam Lord Ford 791 and a few others around 1900.So I think that he was a genuine soldier, however can't find any other records.
Apparently there is also a newspaper mention of David Alexander Ford late of the 12th Lancers who took part in a church parade , newspaper is The Newark advertiser March 1899, the article mentions the Yeoman calvary.

I think you have correctly identified your man as David Alexander FORD.
His 12th Lancers papers are on Findmypast. Left the army and in 1901 census is described as Instructor (Yeomanry) in Newark Notts.
In 1911 is in Liverpool, the hometown of his wife, as Motor Driver - Mechanic in private service.
Pete

PS. A couple of newspaper references to him 1901 / 1902 as Squadron Sergeant Major

I think the SRYC refers to the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry Cavalry.
And, the good news is, they were recorded as the 10th company.
This would fit with the Newark connection (Nottingham).
So, I agree, he was certainly a serving soldier.
I wish you well with your future research

Dave....

PS.... 791 SL Ford served in the 10th Sherwood Rangers. QSA rolls are on line.
